Barium Sulphate Overview

Barium Sulphate (BaSO4), commercially known as Barytes or Barite, is a naturally occurring mineral distinguished by its unusually high specific gravity (density) for a non-metallic mineral.

Because it is highly inert, non-toxic, and virtually insoluble in water and acids, it is an exceptionally stable material. Its primary industrial application is in the oil and gas sector, where it acts as an indispensable weighting agent in drilling muds to suppress high formation pressures and prevent blowouts.

Beyond drilling, our highly refined and micronized Barium Sulphate is utilized as a premium functional filler. In paints and powder coatings, it enhances gloss and durability. In plastics, rubber, and friction materials (like brake pads), it provides weight, sound deadening, and thermal stability.
